A jaw-dropping story has emerged from France, where a woman was duped out of her life savings—totaling €830,000—by scammers posing as Hollywood actor Brad Pitt and his supposed mother.
This elaborate scam, which exploited artificial intelligence-generated images to lend credibility to the con, has sparked widespread outrage and debate about online security.
The woman, whose identity has been withheld, believed she was in a romantic relationship with the acclaimed actor.
The scammers built a detailed narrative, including claims that Pitt’s bank account had been frozen following his divorce from Angelina Jolie.
They further manipulated her emotions by alleging that the actor was suffering from kidney problems and needed financial help for treatment.
Adding another layer to the deception, the scammers introduced a character pretending to be Brad Pitt’s mother. This individual praised the woman for being the “perfect person” to support her son during his difficult time, strengthening the victim’s trust in the fraudulent relationship.
The story, initially broadcast on French television network TF1, quickly went viral, leading to widespread public attention.
Unfortunately, this exposure subjected the victim to intense cyberbullying, causing the TV show to be pulled.
