President of Ghana Athletics Bawa Fuseini has been appointed acting Director for National Sports College, Winneba.

Mr Bawa Fuseini replaces Mr. Noah Bukari who has left his position for a mandatory retirement after acting as Director for the last four years.

Mr Bawa’s appointment makes him the 12th Director of the College since its establishment in 1984.

In a meeting with the Management of the College on Tuesday, Mr. Fuseini expressed his pleasure for the opportunity to lead the institution saying, “his duty comes with a responsibility.”

He said, he would work with staff to enhance sports education and development in the country in line with the mandate of the College.

The College was established to improve the capacity of the technical human resource through trainings, and retraining, embark on sports related research, organize workshops, make available facilities for camping for Ghanaian local and national teams, and identify potential talents in sport.

He is also expected to put in place measures to lift the image of once vibrant College which served as the breeding ground for most Ghanaian sportsmen and women.
