The Barcelona training grounds, Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper was filled with joy and excitement as the team returned to club football following the international with the standout moment being the long-awaited return of Gavi.
The midfielder who had been out of action for nearly a year due to an ACL injury joined his team ta training on Thursday.
The news of Gavi’s ACL injury, suffered while playing for Spain, was a bitter pill to swallow for football fans, particularly those who support FC Barcelona, as the 19-year-old had established himself as a key player and a future star in the club’s midfield.
Gavi underwent surgery on his cruciate ligament in November, resulting in his prolonged absence from both Barcelona and Spain’s squads since November 2023.
In a positive development, Gavi joined his teammates for a portion of the morning training session, his first involvement with the team signaling a major breakthrough in his recovery from a 10-month-long injury layoff.
His teammates greeted him with a customary warm welcome.
Barcelona is expected to take a cautious approach with the player’s recovery, gradually reintegrating him into the team considering the severity of the injury. However, it is widely spread that medical clearance is anticipated within the next 15 days barring any setbacks.
