The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse involving the family

During the visit, the Minister interacted with the family and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support and assistance as they navigate the situation.

Dr. Lartey emphasised the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for the family, particularly the children, stressing that they must not be made to bear the burden of conflicts or violence involving adults.

She assured Nana Akua Addo and the children of the Ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary psychosocial and social welfare support to help them cope with the situation and protect their emotional wellbeing.

The Minister further stressed that while the Police continue their investigations, the wellbeing, safety and protection of Nana Akua and the children must remain a priority.

She underscored the need for appropriate measures to prevent further distress and safeguard the family’s dignity.

Dr. Lartey also disclosed that the Ministry would engage Nana Akua’s husband, who was unavailable at the time of the visit, while ensuring that appropriate support is extended to those affected.

She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Police and other relevant institutions to ensure that Nana Akua Addo and her children receive the necessary support and protection, while due process is followed.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing, safety and dignity of families affected by domestic abuse and related challenges.
