Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) George Afriyie has submitted his nomination forms to the GFA as he looks set to contest current president Kurt Okaraku in the upcoming GFA Elections.

Following the opening of nominations for the presidential hopefuls and Executive Council members on Monday, Afriyie picked up forms to reaffirm his desire to become the next president of the association.

On Friday, he submitted his form completing the first process of his ambitious target of unseating Okraku whose first term comes to an end in October.

This follows Afriyie’s declaration two months ago of his intention to lead the GFA to transform the local leagues as well injecting hope into the national teams.

“We need to move on from repetitive mistakes towards a more practical approach to solving problems. In these challenging times, I come in as a beacon of hope believing in the immense potential of Ghana Football to rise above adversities.”

“I offer a vision for a future where our national teams will continuously compete at the highest level. Our local clubs and the league will thrive and our young talents are given the equal opportunities they deserve,” he said during his announcement.

Afriyie was expected to run against current boss Kurt Okraku as well as Kojo Yankah and Bernad Jantuah, but as of Friday, the final day for nominations, the battle looks like a two-horse race between George Afriyie and Kurt Okaraku.
