German-born Ghanaian defender Kingsley Schindler has replaced Tariq Lamptey for Ghana’s matches against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following the Brighton & Hove Albion defender’s unavailability due to injury.
Chris Hughton named Tariq Lamptey as part of his eight defenders for the matches but the former England youth international has been ruled out of the qualifiers because of an injury problem with Schindler earning his first call-up to replace him.
The FC Koln player joined the Black Stars in camp on Monday to begin preparations for the first game which is slated for Thursday afternoon at the Baba Yara Stadium. Black Stars will meet Angola again in Luanda on March 27.
The 29-year-old has made 20 appearances in the German Bundesliga and is set to win his first cap for Ghana.
The Ghana Football Association reported that out of the 25 players, there are eight more players left to join the squad on Tuesday as they train for the encounter.
Having beaten Madagascar and drawn with the Central African Republic in their first two games, the Black Stars are tied on points with Angola with four points each in Group E.
