Ghana Football Association, in partnership with the Ghana Education Service in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, is supporting the Ayensuano District Basic Schools Sports Festival aimed at developing young talent through sport and education.The three-day event will take place from March 9 to March 13, 2026, at Kofipare under the theme Strengthening the Reset: Unleashing the Champion in You.The festival is being organised in honour of Rev. Alexander Narh Amanya, the Ayensuano District Director of Education, in recognition of his contribution to educational and youth development in the district.The GFAs Womens Football Development Unit considers the event an important platform to advance the Education Pillar of the associations womens football strategy, which seeks to promote awareness, participation and development opportunities for girls in football.As part of the programme, female students will take part in mentorship and educational sessions designed to introduce them to opportunities within womens football.Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, Womens Football Development Manager at the GFA, will guide the girls through the womens football development pathways and highlight possible career opportunities within the sport.Bernice Bempah, the GFA Womens Safeguarding Officer, will lead discussions on the safeguarding code of ethics, focusing on creating safe sporting environments and helping participants recognise inappropriate behaviour and report concerns.Public health practitioner Patience Boadu will also lead sessions on girls health in football, covering topics such as healthy lifestyles, hydration, menstruation and personal hygiene.The festival is expected to combine sport, education and mentorship, helping young girls discover their potential both on and off the field while supporting the development of womens football in Ghana.
