The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, is representing Ghana at the 76th FIFA Congress, currently underway in Vancouver. The prestigious global summit is being hosted at the Vancouver Convention Centre, bringing together key decision-makers and stakeholders from across the football world.
He is accompanied by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and Executive Council member Nana Sarfo Oduro, reflecting Ghanas active engagement in shaping the future of the global game.
The FIFA Congress, the highest decision-making body in world football, convenes FIFA leadership, representatives of the six continental confederations, and officials from member associations worldwide. It serves as a critical platform for dialogue, collaboration, and policy direction aimed at advancing football at all levels.
Key agenda items for this years Congress include the presentation of reports from the FIFA Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee, as well as the approval of FIFAs consolidated financial statements and statutory accounts for the 2025 financial year.
A major highlight will be discussions on FIFAs proposed budget for the 20272030 cycle, projected at a record-breaking USD 14 billion. The ambitious financial plan is expected to significantly boost investment in global football, particularly in development initiatives.
Member Associations are also set to benefit from increased funding through the FIFA Forward Programme, with projected investments reaching an unprecedented USD 2.7 billionan eightfold increase compared to pre-2016 levels.
Other key discussions will focus on the election of a member to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, deliberations on proposals submitted by Member Associations and the FIFA Council in line with statutory requirements, and updates on the global fight against racism in football.
The Congress will further feature interactive sessions, providing Presidents and General Secretaries with opportunities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and contribute to strategies aimed at strengthening the global football ecosystem.
