The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an Executive Council (ExCo) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2024, to deliberate on pressing matters, including the Black Stars’ failed AFCON 2025 qualification campaign.
Ghana’s hopes of making the tournament in Morocco were dashed after a disastrous run in the qualifiers, collecting just three points from five games.
The team faces Niger in a dead-rubber match on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium. Otto Addo’s future as head coach is expected to be a key discussion point during the meeting, with the possibility of either his dismissal or continued support from the ExCo.
The meeting will also address a planned GFA Retreat, aimed at fostering discussions among stakeholders to improve football development in the country. Updates on domestic competitions such as the Ghana Premier League, Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, and the MTN FA Cup will also feature on the agenda.
Additionally, the ExCo will review reports on other national teams, including the Black Queens, Black Galaxies, Black Satellites, and Black Maidens, alongside youth development initiatives like the U15 Boys and Girls Schools Programme.
Progress on key GFA projects, including renovations at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, will also be discussed.
This meeting comes at a critical time for Ghana football, as decisions made will significantly impact the sport’s future trajectory.
