Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, led a delegation comprising members of the Executive Council and Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairmen to pay a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and the leadership of Parliament, on Tuesday March 18, 2025.
The Football Association continued its engagements with principal stakeholders with the latest visit to the legislature following similar visits to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).
The discussions hinged on matters of mutual interest and a shared vision to advance the sport to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
President Simeon-Okraku reiterated the importance of collaboration between the Football Association and the Ghanaian Parliament in order to ensure that football continues to thrive and serve as a unifying force for the nation.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, as well as the Majority and Minority Leaders, for their interest in supporting football development in the country.
The President presented a comprehensive paper on the current state of football in Ghana to the Speaker, Majority and Minority leaders as well as Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee on Sports.
The paper identified the key challenges facing our football, as well as possible solutions to address these issues, as the FA seeks the collective support and collaboration with Parliament in implementing the solutions for the benefit of the sport.
The visit marks a significant step in aligning the goals of the GFA and the leadership of Parliament in ensuring that football remains a source of national pride and unity for all Ghanaian.
The President was joined by the Executive Council members, including Vice-President Mark Addo as well as the 10 Regional Football Association (RFA) chairmen.
