Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo has confirmed that the association remains in discussions with other coaches as it weighs its options for the Black Stars’ head coaching position.
The future of Carlos Queiroz remains uncertain despite the veteran Portuguese trainer guiding Ghana to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The 73-year-old was appointed in April on a short-term contract, replacing Otto Addo just weeks before the start of the World Cup.
Although Queiroz was initially expected to remain in charge on a long-term basis following Ghana’s progress to the knockout phase, negotiations over his demands have reportedly complicated efforts by the GFA to extend his stay.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Ezra Radio, Oduro Sarfo confirmed that the association is exploring alternative options.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is still in talks with other coaches for the Black Stars job, Oduro Sarfo said.
The Black Stars are expected to return to competitive action in September when they begin their qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside neighbours Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia.
The four-time African champions will be determined to secure a return to the continental showpiece after missing out on the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
