The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced its Free License D Coaching Course for colts and women’s club coaches in the Upper West Region. The training program began on August 13 at Apland Hotel in Wa and is set to run until August 20.

This vital initiative has attracted 40 participants, comprising 30 coaches from colts (juvenile) clubs and 10 from women’s clubs. The GFA has made this course free of charge, demonstrating its commitment to improving the quality of coaching at the grassroots level in Ghana.

The coaching course in the Upper West Region is part of a larger nationwide strategy by the GFA aimed at tackling the fundamental challenges in football coaching. By equipping grassroots coaches with the necessary skills and knowledge, the GFA seeks to build a strong foundation for the development of football talent across the country.

This program is one of many that the GFA intends to roll out in various regions as part of its ambitious plan to train 900 coaches over a three-year period. The focus of these courses is not only on raising coaching standards but also on ensuring that young players receive quality training and mentorship.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in rigorous training sessions designed to enhance their tactical understanding, technical abilities, and overall coaching approach. Upon successful completion, all coaches will be awarded certificates, acknowledging their achievement.

The GFA’s dedication to grassroots development is evident through such initiatives, which aim to uplift coaching standards and contribute to the long-term growth and success of football in Ghana.
