Ghana Athletics, in collaboration with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has announced a 13-member athletics team to represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, with Team Ghana aiming to build on recent successes at continental and international competitions.

According to a press release issued by Ghana Athletics on June 25, 2026, the selected team combines experienced international competitors and emerging talents, reflecting the federation’s commitment to athlete development and long-term excellence.

The squad features sprinters Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Amoah, Isaac Botsio, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, James Dadzie, Deborah Acheampong and Anita Afrifa, alongside Evonne Britton (100m hurdles), Rose Yeboah (high jump), Mammoudu Baba Seidu (400m hurdles), Abigail Abugire (800m), Lovina Ewusi (400m hurdles) and Mustapha Bokpin.

Ghana Athletics said the Commonwealth Games present a unique opportunity for the nation’s athletes to compete against some of the finest competitors from across the Commonwealth while showcasing Ghana’s growing strength in athletics.

The federation noted that all athletes earned their places after undergoing a rigorous qualification process, with selections based on outstanding performances at national trials and recent competitions.

It added that the squad’s inclusion reflects not only their athletic ability but also their dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence.

Ghana Athletics has called on Ghanaians to rally behind Team Ghana as the athletes chase medals and seek to uphold the country’s proud tradition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
