Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards

Ghanaian women driving socio-economic transformation were honored at the 2025 Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards in Accra on June 27.

Under the theme “Resetting the Role of Women in Socio-Economic Reboot,” the event recognized excellence across finance, healthcare, media, and environmental sectors.

Keynote speaker Erieka Bennett, Ambassador for the Diaspora, highlighted African women’s resilience: “Nurturing is in our nature—the world cannot move forward without women.” At 75, she urged leaders to uplift others, stressing that Africa’s 380 million global descendants should “always look back.” Development consultant Leslie Casely-Hayford contrasted progress with persistent gaps: female tertiary enrollment has surged from under 10% three decades ago, yet cultural barriers still hinder full potential.

HotJobs Africa CEO Mimi Serwaa Mefful delivered a stark economic assessment: “Women form 50% of Ghana’s population but own under 15% of formal businesses.” She praised market queens as “architects of generational wealth” while calling for systemic reforms in financing and digital access. “Any economic reset excluding women is strategic failure,” she asserted.

Twenty-one leaders received awards, including:

  • Ruka Sanusi (Ghana Climate Innovation Center) for environmental leadership

  • Esther Adomako (Transnational Insurance Brokers) in insurance brokerage

  • Dr. Grace Backman (Sonotech Diagnostic Centre) for medical innovation

  • Audrey S. Darko (Sabon Sake) in soil health management

A special honor went to Bennett for lifetime empowerment advocacy. The ceremony, attended by diplomats and industry leaders, reinforced the awards’ role in inspiring future female leadership amid ongoing equity challenges.
