The Ghana Cocoa Board has announced a policy to allow artisanal chocolate makers to buy cocoa beans directly from the Cocoa Marketing Company Limited.

Deputy Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, Ray Ankrah said the policy, which starts 2024, will provide relief for the small-scale processors to address the issues of high production costs characterized by buying beans from secondary sources and access to beans.

It is also a way of supporting the growth of small businesses to reduce unemployment in Ghana

Mr Ankrah was speaking at the launch of the 2024 National Chocolate Week Celebration.

Chief Executive of Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyemang emphasized that the National Chocolate Week is to enhance consumption.

He commended COCOBOD for the collaboration over the past three years.
