Ghana international Gideon Mensah is attracting transfer interest from Germany and Turkey following his impressive performances for the Black Stars at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

German clubs FC Köln and FC Schalke 04, along with a number of Turkish sides, are monitoring the 27-year-old left-back as he weighs up his next move after becoming a free agent following the expiration of his contract with French side AJ Auxerre.

Mensah enjoyed a solid 2025/26 campaign with Auxerre, making 31 appearances across all competitions before leaving the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season.

The experienced defender has further boosted his reputation at the World Cup, where he has featured in all of Ghana’s matches and averaged an impressive 5.7 clearances per game, underlining his defensive consistency.

Known for his pace, composure on the ball and ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, Mensah has been one of the Black Stars’ standout performers.

With interest continuing to grow across Europe, the former Auxerre defender is expected to have several options on the table as he looks to secure the next chapter of his career.
