Ghana international Nicholas Opoku marked his official UD Las Palmas debut on Tuesday night, playing an important role in their 3-1 victory against RSD Alcala in the Spanish Copa Del Rey.The rock-solid defender joined the Canary Islands outfit in August 2026 on a two-year deal after ending his spell with Turkish side Kasmpasa following the expiration of his contract.Although signed to play an important role, visa complications and an injury problem meant Opokus debut for the Spanish club will be delayed. After overcoming the setbacks, the former SC Amiens defender was named in his teams starting eleven today for their Copa del Rey first-round clash against RSD Alcala. In the away match, Nicolas Opoku put up a top performance for his team, helping them to advance to the next round on the back of a 3-1 triumph after extra time.Unfortunately, the Ghanaian centre-back picked up a knock in the 73rd minute and was replaced by Taisei Miyashiro.Opoku, 29, will be hoping to make a quick recovery from the knock to ensure he is available for selection next weekend when Las Palmas take on Real Oviedo in the Spanish Segunda.
