Kudjoe Fianoo has called for long-term planning to revive Ghana football, insisting that a clear development strategy is essential for sustainable success. His comments come amid growing frustration over the Black Stars poor results in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which have intensified criticism of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and led to calls for the federation to be dissolved. The former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman believes the absence of a proper plan has hindered the countrys progress and urged football authorities to develop a structured roadmap for the game.He cited the work of the late Ben Koufie, who introduced a four-year development plan during his time in Ghana football, arguing that the approach contributed to the countrys progress. There is no plan for Ghana football. The late Ben Koufie, when he came, drew a four-year development plan and that helped in our qualification for the first five-year development plan, Fianoo said on Sporty FM.Drawing on his experience as Chief Executive of AshantiGold, Fianoo explained how a development plan helped the club achieve success in the league. He said he commissioned an expert to prepare a four-year plan for the club and was advised that following the strategy would lead to a league title.According to Fianoo, AshantiGold remained at the top of the league from the second week of the fourth year until the end of the campaign, eventually winning the title with a six-point advantage.AshGold, I won the league when I asked an expert to draw a four-year development plan for me, and in that plan I was told that if I should follow the plan I’ll win the league, he said. The fourth year we topped the league the second week. We never dropped until the league ended. When the league ended, we had about six points to spare.Fianoo believes Ghana football needs a similar commitment to planning, rather than relying on short-term decisions, to build a stronger foundation for future success. His call comes as Ghana seeks to recover from defeats to Cte dIvoire and The Gambia in their opening two Group C matches, leaving the Black Stars without a point ahead of their November qualifiers against Somalia. So it’s all about planning. Let’s plan, he added.
