
Nathan Opoku is relishing the opportunity to begin a new chapter at Northampton Town after completing his move from Leicester City.The 25-year-old striker has joined the Cobblers for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract as the clubs 10th arrival of the summer transfer window.Opoku believes the move comes at the right stage of his career and was convinced to make the switch after discussions with manager Chris Hogg about his potential role in the team.I feel this is the time for a new challenge for me. I spoke to the manager here, he told me how he feels I can impact the team and I believe I am good fit for what he is trying to do here and thats why I chose to come to Northampton.The Ghanaian youth international is also confident his previous experience in League Two will help him settle quickly and make an immediate impact.Opoku spent last season on loan at Newport County, where he scored six goals in 16 starts and finished as the clubs leading scorer.I know what League Two is all about. I had a good spell on loan at Newport last season and hopefully I can hit the ground running here.The 6ft forward joined Leicester after impressing in the American college system, helping Syracuse University win its first NCAA Division 1 Mens Soccer Championship with 11 goals in 25 games.He also scored five goals during a loan spell with Belgian top-flight side OH Leuven.Opokus move to Northampton remains subject to work permit approval.
