A new media guide equipping journalists to investigate illicit financial flows (IFFs) and tax evasion was launched in Accra on August 2, 2025, by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and Oxfam Ghana.
Developed under the NORAD-funded Tax for Development project, the resource provides ethical frameworks, legal context, and investigative methods to expose financial crimes draining Ghana of $1.4–$3 billion annually.
Oxfam Country Director Mohammed-Anwar Sadat Adam called it an “empowerment tool” for accountability, noting recovered funds could transform education and healthcare.
Ghana Journalists Association Vice President Rebecca Ekpe stressed IFFs “deprive Ghana of vital resources,” urging media to “uncover truth and drive change.”
National Media Commission member Ernest Owusu Addo warned against shelf neglect, demanding active implementation.
The guide addresses trade misinvoicing, unexplained wealth, and corruption—with MFWA Senior Programme Manager Rosemond Aryeetey linking IFFs to underfunded public services. Available digitally and in print, it targets newsrooms nationwide.
