Ghanaian central midfielder Rashid Abubakar has joined Omani club Saham Club after leaving his previous club without a club. The 26-year-old has signed a contract running until 31 May 2027.
Abubakars move was completed on 18 September 2026, with Saham adding him to their squad in the Jindal League. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.
The Accra-born midfielder has played for clubs in Ghana, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Oman, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan during his career. He most recently represented Mashal before becoming a free agent on 1 July 2026.
Abubakar joined Mashal from Atyrau in February 2026 on a free transfer, having previously spent time with Ordabasy. His move to Atyrau in July 2025 also came without a fee, while he joined Ordabasy from Spartanii in January 2025 for 40,000.
Earlier in his career, Abubakar played for Bahla Club, Al-Soqour Club and FK Loznica. He began his senior career with Accra Lions, joining the Ghanaian club from HLJ Ice City in October 2021 after a loan spell.
The right-footed midfielder has recorded 27 appearances, one goal and two assists in the Premier League. He has also featured in the Premier Liga, Jindal League, Superliga, Prva liga Srbije, Super Liga and Premijer Liga BiH, as well as domestic cup competitions in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and China.
Abubakar is listed at 1.78m and operates primarily in central midfield. His career also includes 17 appearances in the Premier Liga, 11 in the Jindal League and 10 each in the Superliga and Prva liga Srbije.
His highest recorded market value was 125,000, while his current valuation is 100,000. He now begins his latest club spell with Saham, who have secured his services through the end of May 2027.
The completed move takes Abubakar from a period without a club to Saham Club in Oman.
