Ghana has officially unveiled a five-member para-athlete team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) targeting podium finishes at the multi-sport event.
The squad will be spearheaded by experienced wheelchair racer Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, one of Ghana’s most accomplished para-athletes. The Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, and Ghana’s delegation will head to Scotland under the NPC’s performance-driven slogan, “Target the Podium.”
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Accra, NPC Ghana President and President of the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, expressed confidence in the selected athletes and their ability to compete at the highest level.
Deen emphasized that the selection process was based strictly on merit and performance, stressing that every athlete in the squad had earned the opportunity to represent Ghana through hard work and consistent results.
He described the team as compact but highly competitive, adding that the athletes have the potential to make a significant impact on the international stage.
The announcement reflects Ghana’s growing ambitions in para sports as the country seeks to secure medals and enhance its reputation at the Commonwealth Games.
