Mohammed Kudus registered his first assist of the season as Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. The Ghana international came on at half-time and made an immediate impact, setting up Conor Gallagher for Tottenhams first league goal of the season in the 86th minute.Kudus received the ball before creating the opening for Gallagher, who found the back of the net to give Spurs hope of completing a late comeback after Aston Villa had taken a 3-0 lead. The assist was Kudus first of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign and comes just days after he returned to the starting lineup in Tottenhams Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool. The 26-year-old was introduced by Roberto De Zerbi at the start of the second half as Tottenham looked to change the direction of a game they had entered still searching for their first Premier League goal of the season.Kudus also had a goal ruled out for offside after Tottenham thought they had pulled one back earlier in the second half.Despite Spurs scoring twice late on, Villa held on for a 3-2 victory, leaving De Zerbis side still without a Premier League win this season.Kudus latest contribution comes at an important time for Ghana, with the midfielder having returned to the Black Stars squad after missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to an injury that kept him out for seven months. He is expected to join up with Carlos Queirozs squad for Ghanas upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cte dIvoire and The Gambia, followed by an international friendly against Morocco.Ghana face Cte dIvoire in Bouak on September 24, host The Gambia in Accra on September 29 and travel to Morocco for the October 4 friendly.
