Ghana may head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup without another preparatory match, according to the Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, who has hinted that further friendlies are now highly unlikely.
Speaking on the team’s final build-up plans, the renowned journalist admitted that while the situation is not completely closed, the chances of securing another game before the tournament are slim.
“At this point, it’s a big no. It doesn’t look likely, but I’m not in a position to rule out anything,” he said.
The development comes after Ghana’s planned friendly against Honduras on June 9 was cancelled, leaving a gap in the Black Stars’ preparation schedule.
An earlier proposed fixture against Jamaica also failed to materialise, adding to the disruption in the preparation process.
Ghana will now largely rely on their recent 1-1 draw against Wales and training sessions in the United States to finalize their preparations.
The Black Stars are set to begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in Group L.
