
Ghanaian defender Edmund Arko-Mensah delivered an impressive performance to inspire IF Gnistan to a 2-0 victory over Inter Turku in the Veikkausliiga on Tuesday evening.The defender started and played the full 90 minutes in the Round 5 encounter of the 2026 season, producing a standout display that saw him finish as one of the top-rated players on the pitch.Arko-Mensah made his mark in the 30th minute, setting up Nigerian forward Adeleke Akinyemi for the opening goal with a well-timed assist. Gnistan maintained control of the match and extended their advantage in the 71st minute, when Joakim Latonen found the net after being set up by Vertti Hnninen.Despite efforts from Inter Turku to respond, the visitors were unable to break through Gnistans defence, leaving them empty-handed at full-time.The assist marks Arko-Mensahs first goal contribution of the 2026 league campaign, having now featured in five matches. The Ghanaian enjoyed a productive campaign last season, where he registered three goals and two assists in 25 appearances.
