Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah debut for Norwich City ended in disappointment as his outfit succumbed to defeat against Oxford United in the English Championship opener.
The Black Stars midfielder made substitute appearance as the Canaries suffered a 2-0 defeat to Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.
Amankwah replaced Liam Gibbs at the start of the second half but could do little to save his side from suffering defeat on opening day.
Despite coming on in the second, the Ghana international showed glimpses of quality, giving manager Johannes Thorup hope in the summer acquisition.
Oxford United opened the scoring in the 28th minute mark through Mark Harris as the host went to the halftime break with the advantage.
After recess, the home team added the second goal to seal victory through Cameron Brannagan.
The Ghanaian midfielder joined Norwich City last Friday from Red Bull Salzburg, penning a four-year deal with an option to extend for another year.
He is yet to complete a full session training with the club despite making his debut barely 24 hours after sealing the deal.
The midfielder will be hoping to hit the ground running for Norwich City in the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
He has already debuted for the Black Stars and will be hoping to cement his place in the team. He earned his first Black Stars invite in March 2024, where he featured against Nigeria and Uganda respectively.
