Ghanaian players abroad wrap: Antoine Semenyo earns Bournemouth draw as Abdul Mumin provides assist

Ghanaian players across Europe’s top leagues are back in action after the commencement of the 2024/25 football season.

Antoine Semenyo was the only Ghanaian to score in the top five leagues as he earned a 1-1 draw for Bournemouth in the opening weekend of the Premier League.

Abdul Mumin also provided an assist to help Rayo Vallecano beat Real Sociedad in their first LaLiga game.

Premier League week 1

Thomas Partey lasted the entire game for Arsenal and put up a solid performance as they began the season with a 2-0 win over Wolves.

Tairq Lamptey missed Brighton’s 3-0 win over Everton because of an injury.

Kamaldeen Sulemana also missed Brighton’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United because of injury.

Antoine Semenyo scored a late equaliser for Bournemouth as they played out a 1-1 draw away at Nottingham Forest.

Mohammed Kudus dazzled for West Ham United despite their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa at the London Stadium.

Jordan Ayew came off the bench for Crystal Palace after 70 minutes as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Brentford.

LaLiga week 1

Defender Abdul Mumin provided an assist from a great drive to help Rayo Vallecano beat Real Sociedad 2-1 away from home.

Center-back Joseph Aidoo was an unused substitute for Celta Vigo in their 2-1 win over Alaves.

Inaki Williams captained Athletic Club and played the entire game in a 1-1 draw against Getafe. His brother Nico Williams was introduced in the second half.

Serie A week 1

Caleb Ekuban was not in the Genoa squad that drew 2-2 with Inter Milan on Saturday.

Forward Emmanuel Gyasi played the entire game for Empoli as they drew goalless against Monza.

Alfred Duncan played the entire game for Venezia on his debut as they lost 3-1 at Lazio.

Ligue 1 week 1

Augustine Boakye made his debut for Saint-Etienne in a 1-0 loss to AS Monaco. He came on after the hour mark.

Mohammed Salisu was instrumental for Monaco in the win, playing the full 90 minutes.

Elisha Owusu played the entire game for AJ Auxerre as they beat Nice 2-1 on their Ligue 1 return. Gideon Mensah missed the game because of injury.

Salis Abdul Samed was left out of Lens squad in their 1-0 win over Angers.

Ernest Nuamah lasted 74 minutes for Lyon as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Rennes. Alidu Seidu put in a decent shift for Rennes as a left back.
