Ghanaian skaters Dosseh Aziado and Moses Sewornu delivered an impressive performance to secure gold and silver medals respectively at the inaugural International Challenge Cotonou Skating (I2CS) competition held in Benin. 

The duo, both from Ghana’s Volta Region, excelled in the highly competitive Master Men Marathon event, marking a historic achievement for Ghana Skate and the country’s growing roller sports scene. Their success represents a significant milestone, highlighting Ghana’s emerging presence in international skating competitions.

The achievement has been described as a major boost for the development of roller sports in Ghana, reflecting the steady progress being made to nurture and support athletic talent across the regions. It also underscores the increasing depth and competitiveness of Ghanaian athletes on the global stage.

President of Ghana Skate, Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, expressed appreciation to the Benin Skating Federation and event organizers for their hospitality and professionalism. He also acknowledged Team Benin’s Head Coach, Sera Kim, for her contribution to improving athlete preparation and performance standards.

The success of the Ghanaian team at the I2CS has drawn attention to the country’s vast potential in roller sports and the importance of international collaboration in elevating competition standards.

Looking ahead, Ghana Skate has confirmed that preparations are already underway for the second edition of the I2CS next year, with plans to further strengthen Ghana’s competitive presence on the international skating stage.
