Ghanaian centre-forward Rafiq Aminu has joined Masafi Al-Wasat on a free transfer from Peshmerga SC. The 26-year-old completed the move on 20 August 2026 and has signed a contract running until 20 May 2027.
Aminu leaves Peshmerga SC after joining the club from Ch. Brothers in January 2026. His move to Masafi Al-Wasat is the latest step in a career that has taken him through clubs in Iraq, Georgia, Nepal, India and Spain.
The Kumasi-born forward began his senior career with Shevardeni II before moving to FC Shevardeni in 2020. He joined FC Saburtalo at the start of 2021 and later moved to Samgurali, with both clubs based in Georgia.
Aminu was part of the FC Saburtalo side that won the Georgian Cup in the 2020-21 season. He subsequently played for Alcudia and Friends Club before joining Chitwan in September 2023. His next move took him to Al-Kahrbaa Club in January 2024.
The forward has experience across several competitions. He scored seven goals in nine appearances in Erovnuli Liga 2 and added three goals in eight matches in the Nepal Super League. He also recorded two goals and two assists in 11 appearances in the Indian Football League, while scoring once in two Iraq Stars League appearances.
Aminu is a right-footed striker who stands 1.81 metres tall. His most productive recorded spell came in Georgias second tier, where he averaged a goal every 116 minutes. He also has experience competing in cup football, including the David Kipiani Cup.
His previous transfer history includes a spell as a free agent between leaving Al-Kahrbaa Club and joining Ch. Brothers in January 2025. He then moved to Peshmerga SC before completing his latest switch.
Masafi Al-Wasat will now have Aminu under contract through May 2027, with the Ghanaian forward joining the club immediately after his free transfer from Peshmerga SC.
