FC Barcelona are close to signing Ghanaian teenager David Oduro from Accra Lions. The 18-year-old left-back has been training with the Spanish side’s youth teams since March in a trial for a possible acquisition.
The teenager has played 15 of the 17 games in the ongoing 2023/24 league season scoring one goal for Lions in a 1-1 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed this imminent capturing of the budding star, with an official confirmation expected to be made soon.
Oduro will be the first player directly from Ghana to join the Blaugranas and will start from the academy as he still has a lot to learn.
David Oduro has been a delight to watch in the Ghana Premier League since joining Accra Lions in 2021 from lower-tier side Desideros FC.
Co-owner of Accra Lions Lothar Matthaüs compared him to Bayern Munich fullback Alphonso Davies when he saw him play for the first time.
Until he departed for trials in Europe, he was a key member of the Ghana U20 team under coach Desmond Ofei.
