The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have called on Ghanaians to support the search for a new Black Stars head coach, urging patience, unity and constructive engagement throughout the recruitment process. In a statement released on Friday, October 9, the two institutions, alongside the Black Stars Coach Search Committee, said the appointment presented an opportunity to strengthen the national teams identity, structures and long-term direction. The appeal comes after Carlos Queiroz left the position on October 1, following a difficult period for Ghana football. The Black Stars have endured a disappointing start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, losing 2-0 away to Cte dIvoire before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium. Those results left Ghana without a point at the bottom of Group C, increasing pressure on the authorities to appoint a coach capable of improving the teams fortunes. The GFA says the recruitment process will continue through October and November, with the application deadline extended to October 15 to attract a wider pool of qualified candidates. The five-member committee, chaired by former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe, will assess candidates technical ability, leadership, cultural suitability and high-performance credentials before making its final recommendation.Ghanaians, supporters of the Black Stars, former players, football stakeholders, and the media are respectfully called upon to support this process with patience, unity, and constructive engagement, the statement said.An interim technical team will manage the Black Stars during the November international window while the recruitment process continues.
