Ghana’s prolific forward, Alexander Adjei, won the prestigious Top Scorer award in a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations held in Egypt. Adjei emerged as Top scorer after scoring eleven goals throughout the tournament.
The award was presented to him by CAF President Patrice Motsepe and other top CAF Officials during the medal ceremony following the final match which was played on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Hurghada Beach Soccer Arena.
The Black Sharks finished 5th in the tournament, finishing third in Group A and defeating Mozambique in the play-off match.
Senegal clinched the championship title, decisively defeating Mauritania 6-1 in a spectacular final that showcased their dominance on the sand.
In the battle for third place, Morocco triumphed over hosts Egypt, claiming victory in a tightly contested match.
Alexander Adjei’s remarkable achievement as the tournament’s top scorer was pivotal for the Black Sharks throughout the tournament.
This is the second time he is winning the top scorer award at the AFCON after winning the 2015 edition of the tournament in Seychelles.
After receiving his award, Adjei expressed gratitude, stating, “I am honoured to receive this recognition. It’s a testament to the hard work of my teammates and our coaching staff. We gave it our all, and I look forward to continuing to improve.”
