Vera Yanney, a 22-year-old graduate of Denyaseman Catholic Senior High is a finalist of Ghana‘s Most Photogenic, a TV3 reality show.
With stage name Yannel, she is the last of three daughters of her parent. Yannel also has two step sisters whom she adores very much. After completing her secondary education in 2020, Yannel has since been nurturing her dreams to become a model.
She has planned to apply to a fashion school in 2024. Yannel hails from Kuntenase-Piase near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
Her most challenging task in the contest, she said, is the “Hawk the walk” because she misunderstood the requirement of the task. The most interesting ones for her was the Bridal, Christmas, Bikini, Bathtub and Commercial shoots.
Yannel looks up to her role model, Naomi Elaine Campbell for her courage, advocacy and excellence at modelling.
Yannel said the likes of Jackie Appiah, Juliet Ibrahim, Nadia Buari and other Ghanaian actresses inspired her to begin a career in modelling.
“I’ve always wanted be in the creative art industry ever since I was a kid due to watching women like Jackie Appiah and other actresses on the screen. I had love for being in front of cameras but I felt I wouldn’t be good at acting.
Ghana’s Most Photogenic finale slated for January 20 at World Trade Centre
“That’s when I realized I could send messages and also entertain people through modelling by the pictures and videos I will share to the world while still enjoying the life of being in front of cameras,” she said.
Recounting the impact of the contest, Yannel said “I know how to properly express myself through the lens to my audience while being myself, I always have to learn from my environment and listen to the experts.”
She aspires to also be a fashion designer aside her modelling career.
