Social media influencer, Gisela Amponsah has accused her former producers, Glitch Africa of the “Rants, Bants, and Confessions” podcast, which she was a co-host of sabotaging her and her best friend, Ama Burland.
Amponsah claimed that the producers deliberately paid bloggers to post negative commentary about the hosts to drive attention to the podcast and increase YouTube views.
According to her, the producers’ actions created a toxic environment for her, and she felt set up for harsh criticisms from netizens. She stated in a recent podcast, ‘Let’s do drinks’ that she didn’t feel protected by the producers, who prioritized views over the hosts’ mental health and well-being.
‘’I felt set up…they didn’t protect us, just chased views’’, she said while emphasizing that there was too much drama behind the scenes.
The influencer also alleged that the producers didn’t allow her to control certain situations on the show hence her decision to leave.
However, Glitch Africa has vehemently clapped back and denied these allegations, calling them “false.” The production house claims that multiple episodes were pulled or edited based on the hosts’ emotional well-being and that they worked to resolve issues with a blogger who had been targeting Gisela due to pre-existing personal issues unrelated to the company.
‘’There is absolutely no iota of truth in that video.
Not a single host was denied the opportunity to review content before episodes went public. All hosts, past and present, had access to trailers and cuts via a designated internal group chat for feedback.
No blog has ever published content before the hosts saw it. Timelines can be checked.
The said toxic blogger who had previously targeted one host, was due to a longstanding personal issue unrelated to Glitch Africa. When we noticed it, we asked the blogger to stop, and they did, multiple times.
Multiple episodes were pulled entirely or edited based on the hosts emotional wellbeing; there is one unreleased episode where a host felt sad and disrespected
The breakdown in the relationship stemmed from failed management negotiations. We tried to bring their preferred team on board to manage them, but it didn’t work out. After that, they opted not to return for season 2.’’, according to a statement from Glitch Africa.
The dispute has sparked reactions on social media, with some users expressing skepticism about Glitch Africa’s denial and others supporting Gisela’s claims. Actress Lydia Forson has also praised the influencer for speaking out about her experience.
