A fundraising campaign launched to support the family of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong has raised more than US$848,000 following an overwhelming response from thousands of donors.

The fundraiser was established after Javits was fatally attacked while on his way to school in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

His tragic death has triggered an outpouring of grief among Ghanaians both at home and abroad, with several celebrities, politicians and members of the public expressing sympathy for the bereaved family.

Many people have also contributed financially to a GoFundMe campaign set up to help the family cope with the expenses arising from the teenager’s death.

The campaign, titled “Support for Javits Frimpong’s Family,” was organised by Tracy Boampong, who is based in Columbus, Ohio.

According to the fundraising page, Tracy is Javits’ cousin, while his father, Thomas Frimpong, is listed as the beneficiary.

As of Monday morning, November 2, 2026, the campaign had raised more than US$848,000 towards its US$1.1 million target.

The impressive amount had come from more than 24,000 donors, highlighting the level of support the family has received following the heartbreaking incident.

The funds are expected to help cover Javits’ funeral and burial arrangements, as well as other urgent expenses facing his family.

Javits reportedly relocated from Ghana to the United States to live with his father, Thomas Frimpong, approximately a year before his untimely death.

The GoFundMe page noted that the teenager died just a day after marking the first anniversary of his arrival in the United States.

His death has been particularly painful for his family, who had hoped for a better future for him following his relocation.

Meanwhile, police are reportedly searching for three teenage boys in connection with the fatal attack. No arrests had been made as of the time of the latest update provided.

The growing donations have offered the family financial support as they prepare to lay the 15-year-old to rest.
