Ghana Premier League topscorer Abednego Tetteh has expressed his dissatisfaction following his exclusion from the Black Stars squad ahead of their clash against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Chris Hughton initially named a 24-man squad that excluded local-based players despite attending a number of Ghana Premier League matches.
However, he handed a late invite to Bechem United striker Hafiz Konkoni who finished with 15 goals in the Ghana Premier League behind Tetteh who emerged as the top scorer with 18 goals.
The Bibiani Gold Stars forward revealed that he was eyeing a place in the team following his vibrance in front of the goal in recent times for the Miners and feels bad for not being recognised.
“I’m a human, I feel bad but I can’t do anything about it so I just have to wish them well against Madagascar. We will support them to deliver against Madagascar,” he told Bryt FM.
Having failed to find his feet with his two previous clubs, Hearts of Oak and King Faisal, Abednego Tetteh hit the ground running instantly at Bibiani Gold Stars and leapfrogged some top-notch strikers including, Mezack Afriyie and Sampson Eduku among others to win the top scorer award.
The Black Stars are currently camped in Accra embarking on preparations for their clash in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
