The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to unity and development on Thursday when food items were presented to His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, in support of the Homowo celebrations.
In his address, Titus-Glover outlined the administration’s efforts to enhance the region’s infrastructure, security, and social services. Reflecting on his previous role as Deputy Minister of Transport, he commended the progress at the Jamestown Fishing Harbour, which was handed over to a Chinese contractor under his tenure.
He lauded the ongoing development as a testament to President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of fishermen and traders.
Titus-Glover also updated vital infrastructure projects, including the Obetsebi-Lamptey Interchange and the Tema Beach Road to Osu and Adenta to Dodowa Road projects.
Despite financial delays, he expressed confidence that these projects would be completed by the end of the year, with a presidential visit scheduled to highlight the developments further.
The Minister emphasized the significance of road development and its impact on regional and national progress. He also praised the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, noting its positive effects on educational infrastructure and human capital.
Addressing security concerns, Titus-Glover reported that the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has identified potential flashpoints in Teshie and is working with local police to ensure vigilance. An upcoming REGSEC meeting will focus on maintaining peace in the area.
The food items presented included bags of maize, palm fruits, yam tubers, drums of palm oil, assorted drinks, and an undisclosed amount of money.
These were delivered on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to wish the Ga Mantse a joyous Homowo celebration.
Titus-Glover also highlighted the team’s visits to various clan houses and traditional areas, concluding at the Ga Mantse Palace.
He underscored the importance of unity and development in advancing the Greater Accra Region and maintaining peace within the community.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that it reflects the President’s affection for the Ga people. The Chief Priest of the Ga state offered prayers for the officials, wishing them peace and long life.
The Minister’s remarks and the food presentation underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering unity and supporting the development of the Greater Accra Region.
