Ground Up Chale and its founder, Glen Boateng, have taken Ghanaian musician Kwesi Arthur to court over comments he made on social media, which they say are false and damaging.

The case was filed at the High Court in Accra, where the company is demanding GH₵10 million in damages. Ground Up Chale is also asking the court to order Kwesi Arthur to delete the posts, stop making further statements on the issue, and issue a public apology and retraction.

The lawsuit comes after Kwesi Arthur accused the label of demanding US$150,000 from him to use his own images and claiming ownership of his image, music, and career since 2016.

He further alleged that he did not earn any income during his time with the company, accused its management of intimidation, and claimed they interfered with his current music releases. He also suggested that the company should be blamed if any harm comes to him.

Ground Up Chale has rejected all the claims, saying the dispute is strictly about contractual rights tied to work produced during their partnership.

The company maintains that Kwesi Arthur was paid royalties and other benefits according to their agreement and that any limitations applied only to content created under the label.
