Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Hannah Tetteh has congratulated her younger sister, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui for her re-election as MP for Awutu Senya West on the ticket of the NDC.

In a tweet on December 9, the former Foreign Affairs Minister under the erstwhile John Mahama administration, expressed gratitude to Awutu Senya West constituents for reposing confidence in her sister and voting massively for her.

The former UN Under Secretary General called on the constituents and party executives to reunite in developing the Awutu Senya West constituency.

“Good morning, Ghana! Thank you, Awutu Senya West Constituency, for re-electing my younger sister – Honourable Gizella Tetteh- Agbotui as our Member of Parliament.

“This was a tough fight, and to all our Constituency Executives, Branch Executives, party supporters who put their heart and soul into this campaign, and the people of our constituency who went out to vote on Saturday, on behalf of all of my sisters and I (Hanna, Gizella, Christina and Gabriella) we thank you so very much for campaigning with us, and for all your efforts,” she tweeted.

Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui has been re-elected as MP for Awutu Senya West after polling 33,995 votes to beat the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin who secured 26,937 votes.

This will usher her into her second term as MP for the area after winning the 2020 parliamentary elections.

However, Eugene Arhin has extended congratulations to Gizella Agbotui Tetteh for her re-election as Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West.

While acknowledging the disappointment of the election result, Mr Arhin highlighted the importance of unity, resilience, and continued dedication to the constituency’s development.

“I have just called Hon. Gizella Agbotui Tetteh to congratulate her on her re-election as MP for Awutu Senya West. Whilst the outcome is not what I hoped for, the people of Awutu Senya West have spoken.

“This is not the end of our journey—it’s simply a new chapter. Let us remain united, hopeful, and committed to making a difference in Awutu Senya West. Thank you, stay humble, and may God bless us all,” he wrote on Facebook.

Hannah Tetteh served two terms as MP for the area in 2000 and 2012.
