Asante Kotoko Director of Football Stanley Menzo has expressed full confidence in new signing Richard Boadu, popularly known as Agadas, insisting the veteran midfielder has all the qualities needed to make an immediate impact following his return to the club on a two-year deal.Menzo, who played a key role in bringing Boadu back to the Porcupine Warriors, highlighted the 27-year-olds understanding of the game, leadership skills, and familiarity with the club as key factors behind his belief in the player.He possesses the qualities required for that role. His understanding of the game and leadership skills on the field makes him a great addition, Menzo told the clubs official media.He has been here before and knows exactly what the fans want, and we are confident he will deliver.”Boadu previously established himself as an important figure at Kotoko during his first spell, helping the club win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title before being appointed captain.He made 32 appearances across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, and scored two goals before departing for Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi in July 2023.After his time with Al Ahly Benghazi, where he scored two goals in 32 games, Boadu moved to fellow Libyan club Al Tahaddy Sporting Club, making 21 appearances and scoring once during the 2024-25 season.His return gives Kotoko additional experience in midfield as the club enters a new era under South African head coach Eric Tinkler.The Porcupine Warriors will open their 2026-27 Ghana Premier League campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United, with Boadu expected to play a central role as Kotoko begin their pursuit of silverware.
