Hearts drop points, Kotoko beat Aduana in Dormaa as Nations suffer first home defeat

Hearts of Oak drop points for the first time in their last four league matches after sharing the spoils with Nsoatreman FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday. The draw sees Hearts of Oak extend their unbeaten record against Nsoatreman to five matches boasting four wins and a draw in their last five matches.

In the Sunday games, Bibiani Gold  Stars return to winning ways, keeping their league title aspirations alive after picking up an impressive 2-0 win over Vision FC at the Bibiani Dun’s Park. The win means Gold Stars now occupy the top of the Premier League at the expense of previous leaders Nations who lost narrowly at home.

Kpando Heart of Lions triumphed with a 3-0 victory over Legon Cities at home to move to third on the league log. Goals from Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, Mustapha Yakubu, and Nana Oppong were enough to secure their fifth win of the season.

At the Nana Gyeabour Park, Accra’s woes continued as Adomko Boateng’s own gave Bechem United a 1-0 victory over  Accra Lions, extending their unbeaten run at home in the current campaign to six matches.

Holy Stars will drew inspiration from Samartex’s last match against fellow newcomers Young Apostles, who defeated the reigning champions in the game week 11 fixture, as they defeated Samartex 1-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase on Sunday. The defeat means Samartex have suffered back-back  to defeat for the first team this season and of the defeats were at the hands of the league’s newcomers (Young Apostles and Holy Stars)

Nations FC took centre stage on Sunday as Berekum Chelsea shocked them with a narrow 1-0 win at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, thanks to a goal from Stephen Amankonah from the spot kick. The loss means Kasim Mingle’s side have now tasted home defeat for the 23rd time of asking after setting the longest unbeaten at home record in the GPL history(22 games).

Dreams FC aim to capitalize on momentum and secure their third win of the season was not put to fruition as they loss 1-0 to Karela United at the  Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday. Karim Zito and his side are in a precarious situation as they hang within reach of the relegation zone.

Asante Kotoko secured their first win in five attempts after beating Aduana  2-0 away from home. Despite a challenging trip to Dormaa, Ogum reverse their fortunes with a statement win ahead of the Super Clash against their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak.

Elsewhere, Young Apostles could not maintain their impressive form against top-tier opponents as they were defeated 2-0 by former champions Medeama at home. Fresh from their notable victory over current titleholders Samartex in game week 11, Young Apostles were brushed aside by Medeama to send the Tarkwa-based club to top four conversations.
