The Health Service Supply Chain Practitioners Association, Ghana (HESSCPAG), has held its 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event under the theme “Transforming Supply Chains through Digitalization and Professional Licensing.” The event focused on the crucial role of digitalization and licensing in enhancing the efficiency and accountability of supply chains.

As the healthcare industry continues to face complex challenges, HESSCPAG is emphasizing the need for innovative digital solutions and rigorous standards to optimize supply chain operations across the country. The theme for the 16th annual general meeting and Continuous Professional Development was “Transforming Supply Chains through Digitalization and Professional Licensing.”

The national president of HESSCPAG, Stephen Sakyi, said the association remains committed to advocating for digital transformation and professional development within Ghana’s healthcare supply chain sector.

He highlighted how digitalization can streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service delivery within the healthcare supply chain. “This year’s theme, ‘Transforming Supply Chains through Digitalization and Professional Licensing,’ highlights the dual imperative of adopting advanced digital technologies and ensuring professionalism in a rapidly digitalizing world,” he said.

“The supply chain sector is at the forefront of this transformation. This conference will explore how digital technologies and licensing can enhance efficiency, ethical standards, and sustainability in ensuring the availability of essential health commodities—a cornerstone of universal health coverage,” Mr. Sakyi remarked.

The Volta Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, discussed the importance of professional licensing, stressing that a well-regulated supply chain workforce is essential for quality healthcare outcomes. “Digital transformation is not only revolutionizing industries but also redefining how we understand and engage with the world of supply chain management,” he stated.

Dr. Kubio added, “In the dynamics of the health sector, digitalization and professional licensing together present a powerful avenue for driving impactful change, fostering trust, and ensuring excellence in all facets of supply chain operations.”

The Director of Procurement and Supply Chain at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Bright Agyekum, said digitalization and professional licensing can transform healthcare supply chains by enhancing efficiency, accountability, and resilience. He highlighted how digital tools and real-time data allow for better decision-making and improved patient care, while licensing ensures that qualified professionals uphold high standards.

The Continuous Professional Development sessions provided members with the latest tools and strategies in digital supply chain management, fostering skills that align with global best practices.
