The 2024 general elections have officially concluded, with polls closing nationwide at 5:00 p.m. Voters across the country exercised their civic duty to select leaders for the presidency and parliament, marking another chapter in Ghana’s democratic journey.

The day was marked by a mix of highs and lows. On the positive side, many polling stations reported a smooth and peaceful voting process, with election officials commended for their efficiency.

High-profile figures, including President Akufo-Addo and numerous celebrities such as Joselyn Dumas and Edem, turned out to vote, using their platforms to encourage participation. https://3news.com/news/politics/2024-ghana-elections-live-blog/

However, challenges emerged, including reports of low voter turnout in some constituencies like Cape Coast South, where only a fraction of registered voters had cast their ballots by late afternoon. Allegations of sabotage by Nana Kwame Bediako, the Presidential candidate of the New Force, also added a layer of controversy, though no further details were provided. There were some violent incidents also recorded.

The Electoral Commission assured Ghanaians of transparency as ballot counting begins, with results eagerly awaited.
