The 2026/27 MTN FA Cup will enter uncharted territory, with the final set to be contested over two legs for the first time in the history of Ghanaian domestic football.The Ghana Football Association has scheduled the first leg for June 5-7, 2027, with the return fixture to be played between June 12 and 13, creating a new format for the climax of the countrys premier knockout competition.The historic move is aimed at increasing the tournaments exposure while giving both finalists the opportunity to host a leg of the final in front of their home supporters.It marks a significant departure from the traditional one-off final and is expected to provide an added dimension to the battle for the coveted MTN FA Cup trophy.The journey towards the historic final begins with the preliminary round, which is scheduled for October 23-26, 2026. The Round of 64 will follow from November 27-30, before the Round of 32 is played between February 12 and 15, 2027.The quarter-finals are scheduled for March 19-22, with the semi-finals set for April 23-26. The competition will then culminate in June with the inaugural two-legged final.Nations FC enter the new campaign as defending champions after overcoming Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time in the 2025/26 final.The introduction of the two-legged final ushers the MTN FA Cup into a new era, with the 2026/27 edition set to deliver a historic conclusion across two decisive encounters.
