Nottingham Forest booked their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League with a 4–2 aggregate victory over Fenerbahçe SK, thanks largely to a decisive contribution from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Despite carrying a three-goal cushion into the second leg, Forest was pushed hard in a 2–1 home defeat on the night. Kerem Aktürkoğlu struck in the first half before adding a penalty shortly after the restart, leaving the Turkish side within touching distance of an unlikely comeback.
With momentum shifting and nerves growing around the City Ground, Hudson-Odoi stepped up when it mattered most. Latching onto Ola Aina’s cross, the winger showed composure and class to create space before drilling a low finish into the bottom corner for his sixth goal of the season. The strike halted Fenerbahçe’s surge and effectively settled the tie.
Hudson-Odoi remained Forest’s most dangerous outlet, bending another effort narrowly wide and injecting urgency into an otherwise flat display from the hosts.
While Fenerbahçe extended their unbeaten away run to 15 matches, it was Hudson-Odoi’s moment of quality that ensured Forest progressed and kept their European ambitions firmly on track.
