Ghanaian gospel musician and TV host, Empress Gifty, has boldly asserted her exclusive legal claim to the title “Empress,” stating on her UTV show that she has been officially gazetted to use the name.
She emphasized that anyone else adopting the title is engaging in fraud. This declaration came shortly after actress Nana Ama McBrown announced her decision to embrace the title “Her Excellency,” distancing herself from the “Empress” moniker she previously identified with.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions among fans. While some applauded both celebrities for seeking to establish distinct personal brands, others viewed the development as unnecessary.
Critics have described the move as petty, especially considering the significant influence both women already wield in their respective fields.
Some people are of the view that these decisions might either intensify the competition between the two or reflect their mutual desire to carve unique identities in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
