Former Ghana youth star Ransford Osei has denounced the nature of coaching in football stating that he would never engage in such a profession despite his achievements with the Black Starlets and Black Satellites.

Osei who announced his retirement from football in 2021 was one of Ghana’s standout youth players who gained recognition on the world stage with exceptional performances in the U-17 and U-20 Word Cups in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Despite his early achievements, he called it quit at age 30 following a series of disappointing spells with numerous clubs as well as failed moves to elite clubs.

“I don’t like the nature of coaching at all. It is really annoying to be a coach. There is more pressure in coaching compared to playing, he told Kings Jersey TV.

“After players fail to play according to the coach’s instruction and eventually lose, the coach would rather be blamed while the main characters (footballers) are left to go scot-free. I can’t stand that pressure.

He reiterated his unwillingness to engage in any football-related business stating that he would only come back to football if any of his children were willing to be a footballer.

“If I would ever come back to football it would have to be through my child. if he decides to play football then I can decide to be his agent. That’s the only way I can come back to football. Apart from that I have nothing to do with football again,” he revealed.

Osei won the Golden Boot at both the 2007 African U-17 Championship and the U-20 African Youth Championship in 2009. He also won the Silver Boot after scoring six goals in the U-17 World Cup.
