Hollywood actor and singer Jamie Foxx has opened up about the health scare that led to his hospitalization last April. During a Netflix special, he revealed that he suffered a “brain bleed that led to a stroke.”
The ordeal began with a severe headache. Before he could take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and remained unaware for 20 days.
His daughter, Corinne Foxx, initially shared news of a “medical complication” without disclosing specific details.
Jamie Foxx recounted that paramedics initially dismissed his condition, sending him home after a cortisone injection. However, his sister intervened, recognizing his unusual behaviour and insisting on taking him to Piedmont Hospital.
At the hospital, doctors diagnosed a brain bleed and warned that immediate surgery was necessary to prevent fatal consequences.
Despite the severity of the situation, Foxx shared a surprisingly calm recollection of the experience. He described a peaceful, tunnel-like vision without the typical “life flashing before your eyes” scenario. He even managed to crack a joke about the heat in the tunnel, wondering if he was headed to the wrong place.
Doctors cautioned the American actor’s family that a full recovery was possible but would be a challenging journey. He was filming Netflix’s “Back In Action” with Cameron Diaz when the health crisis struck.
Since his recovery, Foxx has expressed gratitude for the support of his loved ones. This Netflix special marks the first time he has publicly shared the details of his health battle.
