Takoradi musician Ayesem says he’s been shut out of gigs by event organizers after participating in a protest last year.
The Ghanaian rapper claims organizers told him they were instructed by higher powers not to book him because of his activism.
Ayesem spoke about the situation in an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM. “Taking part in the Sekondi-Takoradi deserves better protest has affected me,” he said. “Since then, I haven’t been getting called for shows like I used to.”
He added that organizers who used to book him would sometimes even reach out to him about upcoming events without a formal invitation.
“Now, those shows haven’t materialized,” he said. “The organizers say they’re under orders not to involve me.”
Ayesem denied joining a political party, insisting his participation in the protest stemmed from a desire to see positive change in his region. “I support anything good for my region, but not politics,” he said.
