Popular Ghanaian event host and hypeman, MC Portfolio, has opened up about an unpleasant encounter he had with award-winning musician Black Sherif during the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking on Street Is Watching while discussing happenings from the just-ended awards ceremony, MC Portfolio claimed that the musician gave him what he described as “negative energy” on the night of the event.
According to him, the incident happened shortly after Black Sherif was announced as the Artiste of the Year winner. Portfolio explained that he met the musician on the red carpet and attempted to congratulate him on the achievement, but was left embarrassed by the singer’s reaction.
Narrating the incident, he claimed that after stretching out his hand to congratulate Black Sherif, the musician allegedly looked him up and down several times before snubbing him and walking away.
“I was very embarrassed. The fact that he looked at me from head to toe three times and then snubbed me really caught me off guard. I honestly feel very embarrassed, and I don’t know why it happened, ” he stated.
MC Portfolio said the incident came as a surprise to him because he could not recall ever having any personal issues with the musician. He questioned whether the reaction could have stemmed from previous discussions involving Black Sherif and his management on entertainment shows, although he maintained that he could not point to any specific misunderstanding between them.
“This is the first time I’m realising he may have a personal issue with me because I can’t remember doing anything against him,” he said.

The hypeman further noted that he had supported the ‘Sacrifice’ hitmaker during his rise in the music industry and had, on several occasions, defended him during conversations surrounding his career.
Despite expressing disappointment over the incident, MC Portfolio congratulated Black Sherif on winning the topmost award of the night. He added that although he felt embarrassed by the situation, he harboured no ill feelings towards the musician, describing it as one of the normal happenings within the entertainment industry.
He also mentioned that he may reach out to Madonna, a close associate of Black Sherif, in an attempt to understand what may have caused the awkward moment between them.
